Actor Joseph Nana Osei Kofi popularly known as Wayoosi has swallowed back his words that president Mahama did not give him an amount of Gh 5000 when he was on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.

Early Wednesday, August 17, the Kumawood star told Eugene Moratt in an interview on New Mercury, a Kumasi-based radio station that “it was the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare who delegated some industry players to give him the amount but not the first gentleman of the land as it was reported.”

Wayoosi’s comment has generated argument on major entertainment platforms in the country. In less than 24 hours after the report, the actor has retracted his words.

Wayoosi Wednesday afternoon stated that he made those comments because the nurses who informed him about the cash said it was the minister who sent a delegation to make the donation. According to him, he was not notified that the president sent the money through the ministry before he had the interview on New Mercury.

He continued that his wife who welcomed the delegation made him aware that it was the first gentleman of the land who sent the money through the ministry after he had granted the interview on the radio station.

“I was asleep when they brought the money because of my sickness so I didn’t see anybody during their visit.

What the nurses told me after I woke up was that the minister asked the delegation to bring me the money. I should’ve asked further but I didn’t so after I finished the interview on the radio station yesterday and told my wife about what I said concerning who donated the money, it was then that she told me that it was the president who sent it not the woman.

My wife is the one who collected the money. She told me that it was the president who sent the money but it went through the woman because she is the minister for our industry” said Wayoosi
