GFA Denies Avram Grant’s Request For Holiday

10:03 Add Comment

The Black Stars Management Committee has blocked Avram Grant’s request for yet another holiday break in Europe.
With less than a month for Ghana to play Egypt in their second World Cup qualifier, Grant is said to have tendered in a request for a break from his $50,000 per month job.
Wilfred Osei Kwaku, a member of the Black Stars Management Committee, said that the Israeli asked to fly to the United Kingdom right after Ghana’s friendly against South Africa last Tuesday but his request was quickly shot down.
“After the game, he (Grant) had planned to go back to the UK, but I had to stop him looking at the situation we find ourselves in. You know what has been going on and so it was important for us to meet him. We will be meeting him…to discuss issues going forward.”
In March, this year, the GFA ordered Grant back into the country after he had been away for three months, despite the local league being in session.
In that letter sent to Grant, the FA wrote: “The position of the Emergency Committee is that you have not been given any permission or approval to perform any monitoring work in Europe for the months of January, February and March 2016.”

Trinity Gay, 15, a rising track star, believed to have been caught in crossfire of gang shooting outside restaurant.

The teenage daughter of the American sprinter Tyson Gay has been killed in a shooting outside a restaurant in Kentucky.

Trinity Gay, 15, died from injuries sustained following a shoot-out in a car park. The teenager, believed to have been caught in the crossfire of a suspected gang attack, was hit in the neck when a group of men in two cars started shooting.

Her father confirmed her death to a local TV station, LX 18. Speaking on his way to Lexington after Sunday’s shooting, the athlete said: “She didn’t make it. I’m so confused. She was just here last week for fall break. It’s so crazy. I have no idea what happened.”

Gay, 34, told reporters he was very close to his daughter, who was following in his footsteps as a rising track star. Trinity was transferred to hospital following the shooting and died at the University of Kentucky hospital (UKH).

Her mother, Shoshana Boyd, told the New York Daily News: “She was so innocent, she was so innocent. I just want people to stop shooting and realize who they’re hurting. It’s just random. They don’t understand, they don’t understand who they’re hurting.”
Lexington police said in a statement that officers attended the car park of a Cook Out restaurant after witnesses reported an exchange of gunfire between two vehicles.

According to police the fatal shooting happened at around 4am local time on Sunday before the cars drove away. It is thought Trinity was a bystander and was not in either of the vehicles, which were described as a Dodge Charger and a dark-coloured sports car with tinted windows.

Police on Sunday evening announced that Dvonta Middlebrooks, 21, was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. A statement said investigators determined that Middlebrooks was in the parking lot and fired multiple shots at the time of the incident. Another man questioned by police has not been charged.

In a statement, police said: “A juvenile who was struck at the scene was transported to a hospital by private vehicle and then transferred to UKH, where she was pronounced deceased. The victim has been identified by the Fayette county coroner’s office as 15-year-old Trinity Gay of Lexington.”
The sprinter’s agent, Mark Wetmore, confirmed in a text message to the Associated Press that Gay’s daughter was killed. USA Track and Field also confirmed the news in a tweet.

Ghana Police raid Angel TV, seize decoders over illegal Euro 2016 broadcast

06:16 Add Comment
The recent increase in TV stations in Ghana and limited content has in the last few years led to an increase in the abuse of content rights by a number of TV stations.

This has led to loss of revenue to the audio visual creative industry and the many TV stations who have continuously invested in their people and content, and loss of tax revenue to the government from the illegal activities of these TV stations.

The Communications Fraud Unit of the Ghana Police, CID Headquarters recently raided the Angel TV studios for infringing on the sports content rights of Supersport. The raid was conducted based on leads provided by Multichoice Ghana Ltd.

Angel TV which came into business a few years ago, has been alleged to be illegally airing EURO 2016 Games and the on-going Rio 2016 Olympics Games without the required rights for Ghana. During the operation, the Police seized gadgets/devices used in perpetrating this illegality.

The rights to these major sports meets (Rio Olympics, Premier League and La Liga) are currently exclusively held by Supersport Africa and distributed by Multichoice Ghana through DStv and GOtv platforms.

John Paintsil’s Big Sister Speaks | Dishes Out on All the SHOCKING THINGS That Have Been Going on Between John & His Wife-Richlove Paintsil + MORE

Richlove Paintsil

Former Black Stars footballer-John Paintsil has earned a media reputation for himself as a woman beater, based on unending allegations: that he once beat his wife-Richlove Paintsil which ended him in police custody—and also that he did beat a police woman yesterday when his wife reported him at the East Legon Police station, where he is currently in cells.

It has always been media reports based on allegations mounted by the wife—but this time, his big sister-Tina Paintsil has exclusively spoken to GhanaCelebrities.Com, dishing out everything that there’s to know.

Tina Paintsil, based in London contacted GhanaCelebrities.Com’s Editor-Chris-Vincent Agyapong Febiri because she feels the story has always been one sided and unfair to John Paintsil who for all that has been happening these years has said nothing in the media.

Therefore, it’s time for people to know the true story (as she puts it) and establish for themselves whether indeed John Paintsil who has been excessively supportive of his wife-Richlove Paintsil, demands all that she has been cruelly serving him.
This is the car mentioned in the below audio

Apparently, John Paintsil’s wife has been spending a lot of late nights in clubs, sometime she does not even come home—and the sort of stuffs she wears for her late night outings are not what a married Ghanaian woman should proudly be wearing.

In fact, it’s believed that she is cheating, one of the reasons why she is always at loggerheads with her husband.

We are told, though still married to John Paintsil, she has packed her things out of her matrimonial home and claims she has rented her own place—and then there’s the issue of money and property thievery.

Many of the relationships between footballers and their wives are full of problems, mostly around when the footballers’ careers are at the lowest—perhaps, most of these women come in for the gold-digging, and when the gold mines are almost dry, the cheating, gross disrespect and ill-treatments set him.

And it could also be that, these footballers are not handling their relationships as they ought to.

Whatever it is, the conundrum is far from being solved—and John Paintsil and wife’s issue from what his sister has narrated is far deeper than we knew.

Now, we know a little more—shocking and unfortunate.

Man United sacks Louis Van Gaal

11:23 Add Comment
LOUIS VAN GAAL has been sacked as manager of Manchester United.

Van Gaal has paid the price for failing to secure Champions League qualification next season and Jose Mourinho is waiting in the wings to become the new boss.

The 64-year-old Dutchman was given the news at a meeting at United’s Carrington training ground today less than 48 hours after he led the team to FA Cup glory.

United are expected to release a statement at 1pm today to confirm the announcement.

Even beating Crystal Palace in Saturday’s final was not enough to save Van Gaal from the axe, as United finally lost patience with the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss.

He has had the final year of his contract with the club paid up and will now head to retirement after a glittering career in management.

Former Chelsea manager Mourinho is the man who United will appoint now as they desperately try to restablish themselves as the best in the Premier League.

Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward swung the axe after two years of Van Gaal control, in which time United have struggled to compete for the title.

Despite spending almost £260million on players, the club is as far away from challenging for the title as they were under David Moyes and they risked being left behind further if they didn’t act.

Sammy Kuffuor set to take charge of Kotoko today

10:36 Add Comment
Samuel Osei Kuffour who is expected to take charge of affairs of Kumasi Asante Kotoko today is assured of a good start financially as the club awaits its share of the transfer fees of ex-Kotoko defender, Baba Rahman, to Chelsea which is in the region of GHc250,000.

The high-profile transfer of the gifted Black Stars left-back to Chelsea in a five-year deal fetched his German Bundesliga side, Augsburg, 14 million pounds (30 million euros).

Kotoko, who gave the player the needed exposure three years ago, are expected to receive over 57,000 euros as training compensation and solidarity contribution, courtesy FIFA’s International Transfer Matching System (ITMS).

A source close to Kotoko hinted the Graphic Sports of the windfall yesterday and noted that Chelsea indeed notified Kotoko of the transaction last week.

The source said the Samuel Opoku Nti-led management did a follow-up this week and was informed by Chelsea that the money had actually been paid to the English Football Association for onward transfer into Kotoko’s accounts.

All things being equal, the whopping amount would arrive in time to boost Kotoko’s recruitment drive for next season.

Apart from Kotoko, another Ghanaian club which also benefited from Rahman’s transfer is newly-promoted Dreams FC which loaned the player to Kotoko during the 2012/2012 season.

After an excellent season with Kotoko, Rahman was purchased by the then newly-promoted Bundesliga side, Greuther Furth, for a two-year term before joining Augsburg in the 2014-2015 season.

His eventual five-year deal with Chelsea last August ended series of overtures by some top European clubs, including Roma and Barcelona.

The introduction of the ITMS by FIFA has made it easy for clubs to get their due from player transfers, while eliminating underhand dealings which hitherto characterised such transfers and pegging the share of intermediaries (formerly agents) in such transactions at three per cent.

Meanwhile, Daniel Kenu reports that the much-trumpeted unveiling of the former Bayern Munich star, Kuffour, as the president of Kotoko has been reviewed by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who is expected to issue a statement on the appointment of the club’s new boss.

Otumfuo is scheduled to meet the outgoing management and board members and express his appreciation to them for managing the club for the past two-and-a-half years.

Manhyia sources say Otumfuo will later issue a statement thanking the outgoing board, led by Lawyer Paul Adu Gyamfi, and the club’s General Manager, Opoku Nti, and his management team.

Today’s ‘thank you’ ceremony has been rumoured to be held privately as a sign of respect to the outgoing team.

But Opoku Nti told the Graphic Sports in a telephone conversation yesterday that he was unaware of any changes in the club, as well as the appointment of Kuffour as the club’s president despite an earlier confirmation by Manhyia.

“Neither myself nor the board chairman, Paul Adu Gyamfi is aware of any meeting with the king. As I speak with you, I am still at the office working. I can only say I am out of job when the Asantehene, through the board, asks me to lay down my tools,” he said.

In contrast, Opoku Nti insisted he was still in charge and revealed that he had identified some players which Kotoko intended to recruit for next season.

Nigeria Goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama Quits International Football

04:13 Add Comment
Nigeria’s most capped international Vincent Enyeama has quit international football after a meeting with top officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in Belgium on Thursday.

Enyeama’s decision did not come as a surprise after a major falling out with Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh on Tuesday night following the announcement of CSKA Moscow forward as the country’s new captain.

Earlier, on Thursday the 33-year-old Lille goalkeeper, who has been Nigeria skipper since Joseph Yobo quit international football last year, vowed “not to walk out on Nigeria”.

Later Thursday, Enyeama posted on Instagram: “I have fought a good fight for more than 13 years.I have finished my course,I have kept the faith and sang the anthem with passion.

“Henceforth, there is laid for me a crown which only GOD can reward me for my 13 years of national service.

“God bless NIGERIA. From HENCEFORTH,I am no more the captain of the NIGERIAN senior football team,I am no more the goalie of the team, I am out of the team.

“I am no more available for international duties.

“I want to say thank you to every Nigerian fan and supporter worldwide. It’s being the most trying period of my life but I know that Nigerians are there for me and God is with me. God bless NIGERIA.”

In June against Chad, Enyeama won a record-breaking 101 caps to beat a century of appearances compiled by Joseph Yobo last year.

Incidentally, it was from this AFCON qualifier in Kaduna that would lead to his retirement from international football today.

Enyeama had expressed fears over the safety of Kaduna to stage this match at a time the activities of the terrorist organisation Boko Haram were becoming a lot more daring and deadly in the northern part of the country where Kaduna is situated and which has also been hit by the terrorists.

He was subsequently queried and at the height of indiscipline he tore the query right in front of the NFF general secretary who dared to sign such a document.

He was then invited by the NFF disciplinary committee to state his own defence and he failed to turn up, arguing that he did not get the invitation in time.

The bad blood between the NFF and Enyeama degenerated to the pages of the newspapers and as one official told AfricanFootball.com, the NFF opted to deal with the matter inhouse.

But inside sources said it was agreed that Enyeama must face the music with recommendations that he be stripped of the captaincy and possibly banned from the national team.

The goalkeeper featured at three World Cups and won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria.

Boxing legend Muhammad Ali backs Pacquiao to beat Mayweather

09:53 Add Comment

Mark down the most formidable of allies for Manny Pacquiao. Muhammad Ali -- "The Greatest" -- has chosen his side in the Fight of the Century, opting to back Pacquiao when he takes on Floyd Mayweather on May 2.
Speaking with TMZ, Ali's daughter told them that her "dad is Team Pacquiao all the way." Although Ali, 73, won't be sitting ringside when the fight goes down, he'll be watching the fight like the rest of us.

"My dad really likes Manny," Rasheda Ali told TMZ. "He's a huge fan of his."

According to Rasheda, Ali's reasoning involves more than boxing. He's also apparently a fan of what Pacquiao does outside of the ring. Pacquiao runs the Manny Pacquiao Fund, which aims to aid the underprivileged in his home country -- the Philippines.

"He knows Manny's a great fighter ... but it's more about what he does outside the ring," Rasheda said. "He's such a charitable person."

Throughout his illustrious boxing career and even after he retired, Ali was very politically and socially active. In 1985, he helped secure the release of four hostages in Lebanon. During the first Gulf War, he helped secure the release of 15 United States hostages. And when Nelson Mandela was released from prison, Ali was there to greet him.

"I've always wanted to be more than just a boxer," Ali once said. "More than just the three-time heavyweight champion. I wanted to use my fame, and this face that everyone knows so well, to help uplift and inspire people around the world."

According to Rasheda, there isn't much of a comparison to draw between Mayweather and her father.

"My dad stood for things," she said. "Mayweather ... I don't think there's a comparison."

Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has sued Maurice Ampaw over public comments the latter is reported to have made which indicts the footballer of culpability and criminality over the disappearance of hip-life musician Castro.

Asamoah Gyan, in a writ sighted by News-One, is seeking a perpetual injunction to restrain the lawyer from repeating such comments and also demanding damages to the tune of Ȼ5 million from the outspoken legal practitioner.

The writ, filed by lawyer Kissi Agyabeng, said Maurice Ampaw in a series of interviews with several media houses across Ghana had insisted consistently that he knew where to find the missing musician and called for the arrest of Asamoah Gyan, as though the Black Stars captain had something to hide in the missing Castro saga.

It said Maurice Ampaw had also alleged that there were attempts by close associates of Asamoah Gyan to bribe Castro’s mother with an amount of Ȼl0, 000 so she would stop searching for her missing son.
