GPL week 25 review : Top unchanged as leaders split points

The fierce race for the Ghana Premier League title continued on Wednesday with the rankings unchanged as the top four teams split points.

League leaders All Stars battled third-placed Accra Hearts of Oak in Wa whiles second placed Aduana Stars stormed the Baba Yara stadium to face fourth-placed Kumasi Asante Kotoko, but none of the sides were able to take full advantage.
Techiman City 1-2 New Edubiase United – Nana Ameyaw Park
In Techiman, New Edubiase stunned Techiman City with a 2-1 defeat of their hosts. Bismark Idun put Edubiase ahead mid way in the first half and Isaac Baah equalised for Techiman City in the 57th minute. Tawfik Mohammed however, scored the winner for Edubiase in the 76th minute.

Wa All Stars 1-1 Hearts of Oak – Malik Jabir Park

In the match of the week in Wa, Hearts of Oak battled to a 1-1 draw against their rivals with all the goals coming in the second half.

Kofi Yeboah fired All Stars into the lead in the 61st minute but the Phobians fought hard and equalised through Samuel Yeboah in the 74th minute.

Inter Allies 2-2 Ebusua Dwarfs – Tema Park

Ebusua Dwarfs also maintained their impressive run in the second round of the league with a 2-2 draw against Inter Allies in Tema.

Nicholas Gyan put Dwarfs ahead in the 2nd minute but Gockel Ahotor swiftly equalised for Inter Allies four minutes later. J.E. Amoah restored Dwarfs’ lead in the 70th minute and the home side snatched a point late in the game.

Berekum Chelsea 1-0 Sekondi Hasaacas – Golden City Park

Kingsley Effah scored the only goal as Chelsea defeated Hasaacas 1-0 in Berekum.

Asante Kotoko 0-0 Aduana Stars – Baba Yara Stadium

In Kumasi, neither Kotoko nor Aduana Stars could hit the back of the net in what was a disappointing stalemate for both sides.

Ashantigold SC 2-0 Liberty Professionals – Len Clay Stadium

In Obuasi, Ashantigold won comfortably against Liberty Professionals. They beat them 2-0 with Shafiu Mumuni and Osei Baffuour on target for the miners.

West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) 1-0 Dreams FC – Sogakope Park

WAFA have moved up to 5th on the table above Dreams FC after beating them by a lone goal in Sogakope. Richmond Lamptey scored the only goal of the match to early in the game in the 5th minute.

Bechem United 2-0 Medeama SC – Bechem Park

Abednego Tetteh and Yaw Arnol were on target as Bechem United beat Medeama in Bechem.

The Premier League continues this weekend with the 26th round of matches.
