The nominees for the 2016 Golden Movie Awards Africa have finally been announced. The full list of nominees were announced Tuesday, 24th May, 2016 at the Tang Palace Hotel in Accra. This year’s edition of the movie award scheme was successfully launched and an ambassador also announced.
The screen goddess, Nadia Buari was announced as the ambassador for the 2016 Golden Movie Awards Africa.
The show was hosted by the beautiful Anita of Fashion Gh.
This year’s edition saw a new category, “Golden Animation” added to the list of categories.
With 248 entries this year, a new record for us considering the fact that it’s only our second year. This year’s competition was greater than ever and reflecting the tremendous diversity in the film industry.” Mimi Andani, Country Director said in her welcome speech.
The launch also saw several other celebrities in the film industry throng the ceremony in grand style. Ace producer Shirley Frimpong Manso, Juliet Ibrahim, Eddie Nartey, Salma Munin, Nikki Samonas, Elikem & Pokello, Naa Ashorkor, Selly Galley, Nadia Buari Ama K Abrebese, Grace Omaboe (Maame Dokunu), Kofi Asamoah were some of the celebrities we spotted at the launch of 2016 GMAA.
The nominations sprang across Africa and it was refreshing to see the dancehall king, Shatta Wale nominated in the Golden Discovery Of the year for the movie, Shattered Lives.
