2015 VGMA Artiste of the year, Elorm Adablah popularly referred to as EL, has stated emphatically that he believes he is not comparable to any musician in Ghana.
EL, who made an appearance on the most viewed satire and talk show in Ghana, Tonight with Nii Kpakpo Thompson also revealed that since winning the VGMA Artiste of the Year award, he has received several invitations to perform around the world.
EL was named the 2015 Artiste of the year during the recently held VGMAs but has since been under intense criticisms from a sect of Ghanaians because they believe he did not deserve the award.
But responding to the criticisms, the ‘Koko’ crooner stated, “People are going to chastise and criticise you at every turn. With greatness also comes opposition. Name them Gandhi, Jesus…name them …as soon as you are doing something which is admirable or on a great scale, people are gonna look at you and say, ‘you should have done it like this or not.’ I take all the criticisms in stride.”
Pushed further by host, Nii Kpakpo to reveal the artiste he considers his biggest rival in Ghana, EL disclosed, “there is nobody in the industry who does what I do and that’s something I consider myself blessed for. If it is Dancehall, Hip Pop, Afro Pop, Azonto, Afro Beats, R n B, Rock n Roll.. I do it all; it’s not me blowing my horn…”
EL, despite winning the VGMA artiste of the year award, was not nominated for the recently announced BET Awards. He has however been lauded for his performance at last weekend’s Tigo Ghana Meets Naija, regardless of the technical hitches he suffered.
