Second Chance' Star Actress Lorena Is Dead At Age 44

Mexican actress Lorena Rojas, who starred in more than a dozen telenovelas, died Monday of cancer at her Miami home. She was 44.

Born in Mexico City, Rojas’ first acting gig was in 1990 in telenovela Alcanzar Una Estrella, produced by Televisa, followed by the sequel following year, Alcanzar Una Estrella II.
She went on to star in several Televisa productions between 1992 and 1997 including Buscando El

Paraiso, Bajo Un Mismo Rostro and El Alma No Tiene Color.
She signed on to TV Azteca in 1998, starring that year in Azul Tequila alongside Mauricio Ochmann, with whom she would later star in 2001’s Como En El Cine.

A singer-songwriter, Rojas also released her debut album in 2001, Como Yo No Hay Ninguna. In 2005, she starred in telenovela El Cuerpo Del Deseo, alongside Andrés García, Mario Cimarro, Erick Elías, & Sonia Noemí, on Telemundo. In 2006 she released her second album, Deseo.

Rojas had been fighting cancer since 2008. Her 44th birthday was less than a week ago, when she tweeted,”Thank you all for celebrating my birthday with me. Beautiful day”.
